Small Town Network - Big City Security

A local town was having some turnover in their IT department and needed a temporary solution to provide ongoing support and perform project related tasks. The IT manager was wanted a reliable vendor who could provide quick response and top-notch technical expertise for their Novell wide area network.

The network applications included GroupWise 5.5 with async and direct domain connections, a common BorderManager firewall system, Microsoft Windows 2000 IIS Web server, ColdFusion web application software, and several Novell Small Business Servers.

Cooperative Systems provided design, consulting, and installation services and worked hand in hand with new staff so they could learn the system as it was installed. The result was a smooth transition for the new staff and allowed the IT Manager to focus on longer term technology objectives.

A management portal was implemented as part of the project allowing the IT staff to remotely manage servers and networks across WAN, Internet and VPN connections all through a web browser. In addition, the Police Department was secured by an additional firewall to deny unauthorized access to its sensitive network.
