Secure Network Links Schools, Servers

Customer Profile:
School District comprised of 5 schools
Need:
Deploy a mixed Novell and Windows 2000 based wide area network
Solution Summary:
District-wide installation services and ongoing support

A local school district had just acquired funding to link up a high school, middle school, twoelementary schools and a board of education site.

Security needed to be established between schools and different layers of security would need to be provided at different locations.

A way to migrate existing NetWare IPX servers to a pure TCP/IP environment was also needed. A mail server, content filtering, student and teacher profiles, disk storage allocation and web servers would all be required for the project.

Since there were only two network administrators, management tools needed to be implemented so that any server or service could be managed from any point in the network.

Cooperative Systems provided design, consulting, and installation services and worked with staff so they could learn the system as it was installed.

The systems and applications put in place were planned carefully to maximize the educational impact these technologies could afford the district. It was presented and managed by a full Zenworks for Desktops installation whereby applications and policy settings were automatically enforced at all desktops no matter what operating system.
